In the 1950s, Andy worked as a successful commercial illustrator. One of his campaigns that expanded his fame and audience was the I. Miller shoe company. Andy and I. Miller produced countless shoe advertisements of colorful drawings matched with witty prose, which was published every Sunday in the New York Times newspaper.
