“I guess I can’t put off talking about it any longer… The day my biggest nightmare came true.” – Andy Warhol (The Andy Warhol Diaries)

On October 30, 1985, Warhol went to the Rizzoli Bookstore in New York’s Soho district to greet fans and sign his book America. After taking pictures, a woman pulled his wig off and threw it over the balcony to a male who ran out of the store with it. Warhol decided not to press charges and continued signing books. The Calvin Klein coat he was wearing had a hood, so he pulled it over his head. He was shaken by this violation and said that it was shocking and hurtful. Days after the event, Warhol refused to discuss his nightmare.
