Andy Warhol was best known for his famous silkscreen portraits, which were his bread and butter throughout the 1970s and â80s. Just as iconic as those paintings were his portraits of the bold-faced names of the period. Celebrities, musicians, fashion moguls and athletes of the time stood before the lens of Warholâs Polaroid Big Shot camera.
An upcoming exhibition at New Yorkâs Danziger Gallery, âAndy Warhol: Photographer,â showcases photographs taken by the pop-art master, many rarely seen by the general public, including his Polaroid portraits as well as his lesser-known 8Ã10 black and white photos. The show will run from March 1 to April 21, 2012.
