“I want to be a machine.” – Andy Warhol
Since his start in the 1960s, Andy’s work has been in harmony with the themes of the mechanical age. His trademark silkscreen printmaking process embodies an iconic melding of artistic idea with machine production. Andy’s iconic collection (especially his Campbell’s Soup and Coca Cola portfolios) embodies his prolonged fascination/obsession with mass production and consumer culture, and perhaps even embodies his own desire to live as a machine.
