29 years ago today, Andy Warhol died unexpectedly in his sleep due to complications from a gallbladder surgery. The following day, the front page of the New York Post read, “Andy Warhol Dead at 58: Prince of Pop Art who turned a soup can into museum treasure.” Warhol, having earned far more than 15 minutes of fame, continues to be remembered for his influence on American art and popular culture. He radically altered what we define as art, and how we interact with the various objects and symbols that have become commonplace in our culture. Andy Warhol’s legacy will continue to live on through his art!
